Serve alongside a diverse community through local partnerships meeting the most immediate needs throughout the city.
Nashville, fondly known as "Music City," is known as a dream destination for many aspiring musicians and entertainers hoping to make it big in the business. As the second largest city in Tennessee and also home to icons such as the Grand Ole Opry, this is a place where traditional southern country simplicity meets urban culture. Popular attractions here include the Country Music Hall of Fame, Opryland Hotel, Music Row, The Hermitage (Andrew Jackson's Home), and famous restaurants like Arnold's and Pancake Pantry. But in the shadow of fame and the stage's bright lights, this city struggles with problems of poverty, homelessness and racial tensions. In a community where many hope their dreams will come true, others have a hard time making ends meet.
Nashville is nicknamed the Music City, drawing musicians and entertainers from across the globe. Popular destinations including the Grand Ole Opry, Broadway and Music Row attract year-round visitors. The city itself is booming economically and culturally with growth in industry and population. Negative side effects of this growth including gentrification, income disparity, and a lack of affordable housing create challenges for families who have called Nashville home for generations. There are many organizations in Nashville working towards positive change for the city and providing resources to struggling residents. YouthWorks exists in Nashville to support local organizations that work to resource families in Nashville amidst the frequent changes. We partner with food banks, homeless ministries and local organizations that serve people year-round. Additionally, we host summer programming for children in neighborhoods who have been most impacted by the recent growth of the city.
